I cant afford to do my roof before winter but Im afraid it will leak. What do I do?No problem, we understand that economic hardship has taken its toll on many home owners. If your concerned about your roof taking heavy damage throughout winter, and you cant afford to replace it until spring give us a call. We'll cover up your roof for the winter to prevent water and ice from damaging your roof until next spring.

When is it recommended to use ice & water shields?McLean roofing recommends that you use ice and water shields around chimney's, skylights, valleys, dormers, and edges when the roof is less than 5/12 pitch.

Can new shingles be applied over existing shingles?In some cases new shingles can be applied on existing shingles. The structure will need to be inspected to determine the amount of sustainable weight the roof can resist with the addition of new shingles.

What is an asphalt shingle?
Both fiber glass and organic based shingles are asphalt shingles although because organic shingles were developed before fiber glass shingles, the term"asphalt shingles" is often used to reference organic shingles only.

What is the benefit of having vents on my roof?Proper ventilation on your roof is crucial, it prevents moisture build up which can cause the wood underneath to rot or cause mold. In general one vent is needed every 300 square feet, however one whirly bird vent can effectively replace up to five vents.

How will I know my skylight wont leak?When properly installed a Skylight will never leak. We use a high grade ice and water shield around the perimeter of the skylight as well as metal flashings to lead the water away from the skylight. We fit them tight into the framing and insulate them to prevent moisture build up. Our installation is backed by a 10 year guarantee on workmanship.

Do Eavestroughs need to be serviced?Yes, it is important to thoroughly clean your eaves-troughs at regular intervals to ensure water and waste flow properly down from the roof. Without regular maintenance, rust and rotting can occur and be costly. Be sure to quote with McLean roofing at what intervals your eaves-troughs should be cleaned.
